We have Neonatologist Pediatricians with distinguished careers in their subspecialties, in addition to nurses with specializations in this area. Respiratory therapists and nurse aids are part of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit human group. This department of the Remedios Clinic is supported by other specialties such as: neurosurgery, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, endocrinology, neurology and pediatricians specialized in laparoscopic techniques. InfrastructureThis unit can handle 25 patients. It has 10 incubators for intensive care; 10 incubators for intermediate care and five cribs. Its facilities use all the technical standards established for the specialized handling of newborn such as the proper distance between patient and patient, newborn isolation, a materials and breast-feeding center room. UsersInductionThe parents of the newborn who arrive to the unit receive an induction by the area personnel for the purpose of dispelling their medical doubts and concerns. Psychological support.The Neonates’ Intensive Care Unit has psychologists in charge of supporting parents while their son or daughter is hospitalized and in this manner help parents’ and baby’s adaptation. Support GroupThe Neonates’ Intensive Care Unit has a support group for parents, which tries to interchange experiences and help progenitors adapt to the babies’ hospitalization experience. Training program with parentsIn addition to the above, we have a training program for parents, who are instructed by professionals in various disciplines on fundamental aspects of baby care, such as: warning signals, basic care, maternal breast-feeding and massages, among other topics. Intrahospital Kangaroo PlanOur clinic has an Intrahospital Kangaroo Plan program for premature babies that promote close contact between the family and the child, an aspect that in turn contributes to weight increase in the latter and reduces the risk of infection. |
